Far Yeast Peach Weiß is a 5% fruit beer from Far Yeast Brewing Company, based in Yamanashi, in Japan. It’s part of their collaboration efforts, with this one having been brewed with Yatsugatake Touchdown Beer, also based in Yamanashi. As the name suggets, Far Yeast Peach Weiß is brewed with peaches with these being sourced from Yamanashi, an area big on growing fruits. 500kg of peaches were harvest, frozen, and then pureed before going into making the beer.

Far Yeast Peach Weiß Aroma and Taste

Far Yeast Peach Weiß poured out a hazy golden straw colour with a plump white head on top that did not seem to want to go down. Some people say you need a head on a beer to fully appreciate the nose, but the aroma of peaches coming off Far Yeast Peach Weiß was too strong to ignore. Very fruity with some hints of wheat coming through too.

The body was light, but not so much that the peachiness didn’t come through. The was a slight dusting of wheatiness with a hint of pepper going on in the background that contrasted nicely against those peach flavours. There was some yeasty funk going on but it was a light phenolic dusting that went well with the peaches.

Far Yeast Peach Weiß The Bottom Line

I am not a fan of peaches but this was a well made effort. Impressed.
