Derailleur Black Rain D.D Town is a 5% milk stout from Derailleur Brew Works, based in Osaka, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup and can be found in both bottles and on tap. It also contains honey sourced from various locations in Osaka.
Derailleur Black Rain D.D Town Aroma and Taste
Derailleur Black Rain D.D Town poured out a pitch black colour with no head – well it did eventually develop a few bubbles on top that I guess could be considered a head, but they were neither substantial or significant to the beer. Derailleur Black Rain D.D Town is another example of style over substance with the supposed milk and honey aromas being severely lacking, instead, a weird phenolic aroma came off of Derailleur Black Rain D.D Town – and it was more than likely sour too.
That should have been enough to ward me off this beer, but let’s put our best foot forward and hope it’s just me. That first sip of Derailleur Black Rain D.D Town will remain with me for as long as I can remember. It was a weird sour fruity flavour that just does not belong in a milk stout – had someone actually tasted this beer before going on sale?! An instant drain pout and no more.
Derailleur Black Rain D.D Town The Bottom Line
I’m hoping Derailleur Brew Works reads these reviews as to learn about their beer – because they need to.
