Bay Brewing Weekend Journey by Yokohama Bay Brewing Company

Bay Brewing Weekend Journey is a 5% witbier from Yokohama Bay Brewing Company, based in Kanagawa, Japan. It’s part of a limited edition range, though it does have its own site so it’s unknown how limited Bay Brewing Weekend Journey is. Brewing Weekend Journey is inspired by the ability to spend a weekend in Yokohama and Kamakura, though with the crowds, a day is long enough in both the places.

Bay Brewing Weekend Journey Aroma and Taste

Bay Brewing Weekend Journey poured out a clear straw yellow colour with meagre amount of white head that faded fast. There was a biscuit like aroma to it that masked a muted orange and coriander aroma that just couldn’t break through the malt. The Belgian yeast funk didn’t help the cause either, dominating over the delicate adjuncts.

It had clean, biscuit flavour to it and thankfully the orange was slightly more potent in the body but it just didn’t really seem to get going. Perhaps Yokohama and Kamakura are not exciting and this is what Bay Brewing Weekend Journey is trying to convey. It ended up with a slight bitter aftertaste that faded fast.

Bay Brewing Weekend Journey The Bottom Line

Bay Brewing Weekend Journey is a pretty bland witbier with not much going for it.
