Farmentry Minoru

Farmentry Minoru : Background

Farmentry Minoru is 7.5% American IPA from Farmentry based in Kashihara, Nara. It’s part of their collaborative lineup, with Novoru Brewing being involved in the making of this beer. Though it’s available in both cans and on draught, I suspect that this is a one-off brew, and as such, might not be available at the time of publishing.

Farmentry Minoru is brewed using a process known as “High Density Hop Charge”, basically a metric shit load of hops being used. This includes Brewer’s Gold (Leaf), Citra (Cryo), Citra (DynaBoost), Mosaic (CO2 Hop Extract) on the hot side, and Citra (Cryo), Krush, Krush (HyperBoost) on the cold side.

Farmentry Minoru : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

Farmentry Minoru poured out a bright orange colour with a finger’s worth of fluffy white head on top that lingered throughout drinking. There were some thick rings around the side of the glass as the beer went down, with a few streaks for good measure.

I was expecting an assault on the olfactory senses with the amount of hops and how they were used in the making of this beer and I was not let down. Citrus and tropical notes came screaming through and did not relent during drinking. Lemon and orange were present on the citrus side, with guava, mango, and pineapple joining in the fun on the tropical side of drinking. There was a slight sweetness to the nose, with a light dusting of candied sugar being present as Farmentry Minoru warmed up during drinking.

Like in the nose, drinking the beer was a ride for the taste buds – so much going on, yet every single flavour could be picked out quite easily. The citrus notes were made up of lemon and orange; both easily discernible, while the tropical notes were mostly mango and pineapple. These flavours were followed up with some light candied sugar flavour to support, alongside a light bitterness throughout.

Farmentry Minoru : The Bottom Line

This was a fantastic beer from start to finish, I want more!
