Farmentry Sonar : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

Farmentry Sonar poured out a vibrant golden orange colour with a thin layer of white head on top that faded to a few bubbles on top. The body was certainly hazy with it being nigh on impossible to see through the body of the beer.

The aroma coming off the beer was bold, yet smooth, when the beer was chilled. Lashings of citrus fruit notes, lemon and orange, along with a touch of tropical aroma, some mango and pineapple, were all present. As the beer warmed up, the hoppy notes became more pronounced, but alongside them was a solid note of sweetness that, while strong, was not overpowering, nor cloying.

As in the aroma, the body was bold and smooth, with a clean, well-rounded bitterness to start the beer off, before the hoppy flavours came swinging in. The citrus and tropical notes found in the nose were equally as present in the body, and paired off nicely against a modicum of sweetness that made Farmentry Sonar more akin to a slighlty alcohol mixed juice than a beer. The hoppy flavours lingered through into the aftertaste. The carbonation on the beer could be a little stronger, just to add some jazz to the beer.

Farmentry Sonar : The Bottom Line

A solid hazy IPA from Farmentry but it’s probably sold out by the time you read this.
