Good Hops Falling in Love With is a 5% American pale ale from Good Hops, based in Tono, Iwate. It’s part of their canned and draught line-up, though its availability is unknown at the time of writing, though with it being one of their “Festival Ale” beers, I suspect it’s a limited release, though please don’t quote me on that. Like other beers from Good Hops, this beer uses locally grown hops in the form of Tono No Wind, a new variety, along with German Hallertau Mittelfluh, Tono Saaz.

Good Hops Falling in Love With : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Good Hops Falling in Love With poured out a slightly dull honey colour with a thick white head on top, though it didn’t last long. The head collapsed to a thin layer of bubbles on top, with some streaks down the glass as the beer was drunk.
The aroma was an unusual one. There was an initial floral aroma which came from the usage of the Hallertau and Saaz hops, but there was something musty about the beer. It wasn’t an overpowering aroma, and it didn’t seem like wet cardboard, yet I couldn’t quite pin the aroma down. I guess it was slighly fruity, almost like a phenolic aroma, though I really couldn’t figure out though what fruit it was supposed to be.
Drinking Good Hops Falling in Love With began with a smooth bitterness though it faded quickly; leaving behind a slight sweetness from the malts. A light pilsner body was intertwined with a dusting of floral hop flavour, but once again, that fruitiness in the body was present. It wasn’t overpowering or unpleasant, but just weird, and it happened to linger through into the aftertaste.
