Craft Bank Yuzu Cold IPA is a 5.5% cold IPA from Craft Bank Brewing based in Kyoto, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup and is available in both cans and on draught. As the name suggests, Craft Bank Yuzu Cold IPA is brewed using locally sourced yuzus, a kind of Japanese citrus, from Mizuo, Kyoto, which is deemed to be the birthplace of yuzu cultivation. Moreover, Craft Bank Brewing used Citra (regular and cryo), Idaho 7, Krush, and Motueka hops in the making of this beer. Finally, Craft Bank Brewing used locally grown rice from a farm in Fukuchiyama.

Craft Bank Yuzu Cold IPA : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Craft Bank Yuzu Cold IPA poured out a hazy golden colour with a thin layer of white head, consisting of some small bubbles that popped away to leave just a couple of larger ones on top.
With the choice of fruit and hops used, I was not surprised that Craft Bank Yuzu Cold IPA had a strong citrus aroma – grapefruit, lemon, and yuzu all came through, with the latter being the strongest aroma. Thankfully, it was a smooth yuzu aroma, and not a chemical or pithy aroma – something that can come through when too much is used, or when too much peel is added with the pith still attached.
The body began with a zingy citrus kick, with a smooth bitterness that peterred out as Craft Bank Yuzu Cold IPA warmed up. The flavour was all citrus as in the nose, so lots of grapefruit, lemon, and yuzu flavour hanging around during drinking. It was all blended together well, with of course the yuzu flavour being the strongest, but it was a pleasent beer to drink. Finally, the body was crisp and a touch on the dry side, with very low sweetness, either when chilled or when the beer had warmed up.
