Great Dane Hot Chili IPA 013 : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Great Dane Hot Chili IPA 013 poured out a dark amber brown colour with a thick, sticky off-white head, made up of large bubbles which popped away to a thin layer on top.
The aroma wasn’t spicy by any means, in spite of the plethora of chilis that had been added to this beer. If anything, Great Dane Hot Chili IPA 013 had a sweet aroma from the malts, with some earthiness coming through.
Unlike in the aroma though, there was definitely some heat in the body of Great Dane Hot Chili IPA 013, with a distinct spiciness coming through from the beginning. Not enough to blow your head off, but enough to put a spring in your step. Combined with the earthiness from the hops, it was an interesting beer, but I can’t help think that something was missing – perhaps some citrus or tropical zing to pair off against the heat.
Great Dane Hot Chili IPA 013 : The Bottom Line
Tough one – not a bad beer by any means, but not really a beer I want to try again in a rush.
