Background
Novoru Hikaru is a 5% hefeweizen from Novoru Brewing, based in Miyazaki, Kyushu. It is available in both cans and on draught. It came about because the head brewer enjoys the style and wanted a change from making IPAs. However, that is all the information I could find for this beer.

Novoru Hikaru : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
The beer poured out a hazy, vibrant yellow colour with a plump, sticky white head on top. That same head left thick streaks down the side of the glass during drinking.
In addition, in terms of aroma, it was a classic hefeweizen nose. A big, bold banana aroma emanated from start to finish, alongside a mild wheatiness. There was a touch of clove present, which became more pronounced as the beer warmed up more.
Finally, the body was exactly what I want from a hefeweizen. A smooth banana flavour with some light wheaty notes lying underneath. It was a classic hefeweizen from start to finish, with just a touch of clove spice awaiting as a surprise. It was rather light in terms of body and very drinkable, and well suited to warmer day.
The Bottom Line
A well made hefeweizen that is a good gateway into the style.
