Let’s Beer Works Roar of Citra : Aroma & Taste
This is the second time for me to have Let’s Beer Works Roar of Citra as I originally drank it on a recent trip to Let’s Beer Works’ taproom in Higashi-Jujo – though I don’t remember too much of that original drinking. However, it must have left a good impression if I decided to pick up a couple of cans of it.
Let’s Beer Works Roar of Citra poured out a hazy golden colour with a thin amount of white head on top that faded fast to a few bubbles around the side of the glass. The aroma was all orange and peach to start off with, though as it warmed up, there was more of a citrus nose to the beer. Let’s Beer Works Roar of Citra didn’t have that strong a malt backbone to the beer, with just a light dusting of sweetness in the beer. As Let’s Beer Works Roar of Citra warmed up, I didn’t notice any off-flavours, such as oxidation or phenols – it was all hops.
Let’s Beer Works Roar of Citra began with a bitter kick, though fleeting, it did leave enough of a impression. The flavours were centred around the orange and peach that were apparent in the nose, which then led onto a citrus twist of lemon and grapefruit. It had a light malt backbone to the body – enough sweetness to be noticeable but not enough to take away from the hoppy flavour going on. Let’s Beer Works Roar of Citra finished off with a slight stickiness on the palate but the price did leave me feeling a little bit jaded.
Let’s Beer Works Roar of Citra : The Bottom Line
Bring the price down by a few hundred yen and Let’s Beer Works Roar of Citra would be worth it. At its current price though, it did leave me wanting more.
