Two Rabbits Smoked Scotch Ale : Aroma & Taste

Two Rabbits Smoked Scotch Ale poured out a dark ruby brown colour with a medium amount of off-white head on top that was more brown than red. The aroma coming off Two Rabbits Smoked Scotch Ale was very complex yet balanced. There was an light smokey aroma that resembled something like honey cooked bacon, which was then paired against some chocolate and caramel. As Two Rabbits Smoked Scotch Ale warmed up to room temperature, the flavours grew stronger but did not become harsh or abrasive. If anything, they became more refined and distinct.

Two Rabbits Smoked Scotch Ale was paired up with my dinner, which was some roasted bacon and asparagus and wow, did it match up well. The slight peaty flavour in the beer, with the smokiness was matched well with the bacon, but it was the chocolate flavour that was the surprise star in the beer – and who would have thought that? The caramel brought a touch more sweetness to the beer – not enough to be cloying or overpowering but enough to be noticeable and take off some of the peat edge in the beer. Two Rabbits Smoked Scotch Ale finished off with a lingering smokiness that resembled some smoked meat and just a touch of alcohol heat.

Two Rabbits Smoked Scotch Ale : The Bottom Line

If you like your beers lightly smoked, or looking to get into smoked beers, Two Rabbits Smoked Scotch Ale is a great first time beer for someone to try.
