Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft : The Bottom Line

Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft delivers good food and beers at a very reasonable price and should be on your places to visit when you’re in the area. While the tap list may not be “exciting” for those trying to find the latest whales and hazy beers, the taps offer a solid variety for everyone to have a beer on the menu. The whole place is non-smoking, has no table charge, and all the prices include tax. The main downside to Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft is that the bar is very small so you will be sat very close to the person next to you.

Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft : The Full Write Up

I guess if you’re going to travel all the way to Akabane from Yokohama for a few beers with friends, then you might as well try another bar, if you’re in the area, and Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft came up in our search. However, the bar itself was a bit harder to find in the meandering maze that is the Akabane Shopping District – lots of small alleys, with shops that cut across the paths with plastic sheeting, masking the signs of other bars around them.

Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft is located about a 5 minute walk from the east exit of Akabane Station, which is situated on the Keihin Tohoku, Utsunomiya, Shonan Shinjuku, and Saikyo Lines, so it’s a pretty accessible place for most people to get to.

Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft : Atmosphere & Interior

To say Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft is small would be an understatement – there isn’t enough room to swing a cat in here, so make sure you go with people who you are friendly with. Though Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft has two floors, the second floor isn’t anymore spacious compared to the first. This does make it a nice place for couples and groups of people. Downstairs, there is space for about 15 people, sat around the counter, while upstairs there is space for about 20 people at tables. The whole place is non-smoking and has no table charge. On top of the indoor seating, there is also some outdoor seating. Combined with the free Wifi, Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft ticks off everything you need in bar.

The interior has a heavy Italian theme, and you can see some of the in-house cured meats hanging around – sausages and hams for example – as well as plenty of sounds from the kitchen. There was some eclectic Italian themed music being played to “help” bring some atmosphere of what could be described as a trattoria perhaps?

Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft : Approach to Covid-19

Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft has a pretty stringent approach to Covid-19 with temperature checks and alcohol spray, along with all the staff members wearing masks. Moreover, the staff try to keep groups away from one another, and there are also plastic partitions between tables and seating.

Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft : Beer & Tap Information

There are 6 taps of craft beer at Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft, with a leaning towards domestic beers. There is also a good variety of beers on tap, with all of them being different styles – a nice surprise and also this means there is something for pretty much everyone. The beers on tap may not be the most exciting, and those trying to hunt down some rare hazies will be left disappointed. The beers come in two sizes: half (200 ml) at 550 yen and full (420 ml) at 880 yen – some bargain prices right there. There wasn’t any beer flight, but there was a happy hour from 16:00 – 19:00 where for 980 yen you get a full bere and a choice of 2 appetizers from the menu. All of the prices include tax.

Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft : Food Information

Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft is not a place for vegetarians or those squeamish when it comes to meat as when you walk in, there are sausages and meat dangling around. There are a few choices of vegetarian food on the menu but it tended to be salads or pickles. The whole premise of food at Bistro Sakaba Craft x Craft is based on Italian cuisine – so lots of salami, sausages, dried meats, and pasta dishes.
