Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale is a 6% American pale ale from Y Market Brewing, based in Nagoya, in Aichi, Japan. It’s part of their all-year round range and was first canned in February 2019. Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale is brewed using exclusively imported American Citra hops.
Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale Aroma and Taste
Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale poured out a darker than usual straw brown colour with a plump white head on top that faded fast. Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale had a fruity tropical aroma to reminiscent of pineapples, mangos, and some lemon in the background – a quite impressive mix considering just Citra hops were used. There was barely any malt aroma off of the beer with just a really faint aroma of biscuit once Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale had warmed up.
Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale started off with a light bitterness to it, that faded fast, leaving a tropical lemony flavour to the body. The malts were just as light in the body, with a faint smattering of biscuit but the hops were the stars in Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale. Citrus and tropical reigned supreme throughout before fading away in the aftertaste.
Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale The Bottom Line
Y Market Purple Sky Pale Ale is well worth finding and drinking – can or on tap.

I liked it as well. Quite a strong hop flavour, so I would probably rate it as an IPA and not a PA, but my taste buds are probably spoiled by too much Weizen and Festbier, so I leave the IPA/PA distinction to the experts.
