Be Easy Ray’s Milk Stout Aroma and Taste

Be Easy Ray’s Milk Stout was always going to be an instant purchase when I was at Craftsman Yokohama – it’s a stout and it’s from Be Easy Brewing! Be Easy Ray’s Milk Stout came up pitch black with a slightly off-white tan coloured head on top that clung to the side of the glass. There was a huge milky lactose aroma coming off it, along with some black roasted malts that were nice and smooth, instead of bitter and acrid. Be Easy Ray’s Milk Stout also had an oak-smoked woodiness to it as well once it had warmed up.

The initial mouthfeel was silky smooth with a creamy body to it. The milky flavour combined with the coffee-like hit tasted like one of those ice-coffees you get in Tully’s that has just the right amount of cream added to it. Once Be Easy Ray’s Milk Stout had warmed up, the oak-smoked woodiness was also present – almost as if someone had tried to barrel age it using oak chips somewhere? The lingering coffee and chocolate flavours were present right through to the aftertaste that just did not want to shake them.

Be Easy Ray’s Milk Stout is a very good milk stout and one I would not hesitate to order again.
