Craft Beer House Devinchi The Bottom Line
Perhaps because it was the end of a long day of travelling and drinking but Craft Beer House Devinchi really didn’t hit the spot for me. While it had a good atmosphere, the smoking across the bar wasn’t welcome and I could have sworn that one of the beers I had was off but nothing was done about it. A shame really as the owners are a nice friendly couple that could really make Craft Beer House Devinchi work. There was next to no English on the menus but there was no table charge and tax was included in all of the prices. I didn’t notice any WiFi in the bar either.
Craft Beer House Devinchi The Full Review
Craft Beer House Devinchi was the fourth bar of the day (supposed to be fifth) and the night was coming to an end. Open in May 2015, Craft Beer House Devinchi is about a two minute walk from Higashi Umeda station, in the basement of what appeared to be a big tower full of karaoke bars and offices and like Beer Bar Lupulin in Tokyo, Craft Beer House Devinchi wasn’t the easiest place to find – with a small sign at the bottom of a list of many being the only distinctive indicator there was a bar in the building.
Craft Beer House Devinchi is a narrow, but long, bar with space for about 30 people inside, with 10 at the counter and then another 20 dotted around various tables. There is plenty of space for standing, though the major downside is that the whole bar is smoking, and it got pretty smokey while I was there. There was no table charge though and no time limit for how long you can stay either.
There are 8 taps of craft beer available, with a heavy leaning towards the domestic market, as well as one tap of macro lager available as well. The beers at Craft Beer House Devinchi come in various shapes and sizes with a heavy leaning towards domestic craft beer. Beers come in three sizes: 240ml small size from ¥540, 330ml medium from¥678, and 560ml large from ¥1131. All the prices include tax and Craft Beer House Devinchi do keep a list of beers on tap on their homepage. There are also bottles available as well, though they were quite pricey. I didn’t notice any kind of happy hour nor beer flight whilst there.
The food at Craft Beer House Devinchi is your typical Japanese standrard craft beer beer offerings but I didn’t order any as by that time of the evening I was full up of karaarage from around Osaka.
