Harvestmoon Pilsner is a 5.5% Czech style pilsner from Harvestmoon Brewery based in Chiba, though it is brewed using German hops, so a hybrid between the two styles of pilsners. It’s part of their all-year round range and can be found in both bottles and on tap across Japan. Harvestmoon Pilsner has also won awards in the Asia Beer Cup in 2015 for Best Light Lager and the International Beer Competition in 2014 for Best German Pilsner. But it’s supposed to be Czech…
Harvestmoon Pilsner Aroma and Taste
Harvestmoon Pilsner poured out a light golden straw colour with a large fluffy white head that adorned the top of the beer for a long time – there was no rush for it to go. The head also clung to the side of the glass as the beer went down and even remained when there was no beer left at the bottom of the glass. It had a pleasant malt aroma to it of biscuits and also a faint floral hop aroma lingered in the mix as well.
The body was incredibly sharp and crisp which provided that brilliant feeling you get at the end of a working day and the first sip of beer hits the spot perfectly. Harvestmoon Pilsner had good level of malt sweetness, something akin to digestive biscuits, along with a slight bitterness to it in the aftertaste and it was all balanced very well. The taste lingered on the palate for a little while after before the next sip came along.
Harvestmoon Pilsner One Line Review
Harvestmoon Pilsner is definitely one of the better made pilsners in Japan. Go find a bottle and drink it slightly chilled.
