Craft Beer Base Mix Juicy 001 is a 6.3% hazy IPA from Craft Beer Base Lab, based in Osaka, Japan. Part of their Craft Beer Base Brewing Lab, it is available in bottles and on draught. However, at the time of writing, it is a limited production beer, so it may have sold out. The hops used to make this beer include Mosaic and Sabro, alongside Mistral.

Craft Beer Base Mix Juicy 001 : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
It poured out a muted golden colour – the picture really does not do it justice. On top, was a plump white head, made up of small white bubbles. The head dissipated to a thin ring with streaks down the edge of the glass.
The aroma was mixed – there were some tropical notes to the beer, with hints of mango and pineapple, but they were muted in comparison to the Craft Beer Base Hop Schema 044. The beer had a light floral note, which became stronger as the beer warmed up. Finally, the malts brought a medium sweetness to the beer though it didn’t detract from the hop aroma.
The body began with a low to medium level of bitterness which lingered during drinking. The main notable flavour in the beer was tropical, with mango and pineapple present. Furthermore, as the beer warmed up, the floral note also developed as in the nose. However, it all felt rather muted and I suspect that is down to the beer being “old” as it came out in September 2024. If this had been freshed, I suspect that it would be punchier than now.

I felt a bit underwhelmed by this beer. If you are going to name your beer juicy, then make sure it is!
