Cave D’Occi Sway : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

Cave D’Occi Sway poured out a slightly hazy straw colour with a large frothy white head, that consisted of small and medium sized bubbles. The beer seemed to have a strong carbonation to it, with bubbles streaming from the bottom of the glass during drinking. The head did collapse halfway through drinking, leaving a few streaks down the side of the glass, with them lasting right until the end.

The aroma from the beer began with a light floral aroma, with some gentle hints of rice and a touch of graininess cutting through them all. As Cave D’Occi Sway warmed up though, some light citrus notes of lemon and orange began to show through; however, these aromas were much lighter than an American influenced beer, with these citrus notes being restrained and secondary.

As expected, with a relatively low alcohol content – much more than we’re used to here – the body was light and crisp, with an initial floral aroma being one of note. In all honesty, the only thing saving Cave D’Occi Sway from being knocked back in one go was the carbonation of the beer, with it being perhaps the liveliest characteristic of the beer. The citrus notes found in the nose once again appeared in the body; yet they never really grew in flavour or stature. The dry and light finish to the beer left very little on the palate with the flavours fading away pretty quickly from the beer.

Cave D’Occi Sway : The Bottom Line

Cave D’Occi Sway is a light, crisp beer with a hazy straw colour and lively carbonation. While the flavours lack depth, its delicate character and refreshing simplicity make it a pleasant, understated beer suited to drinking alongside food.
