Ohloy Store: The Bottom Line
Ohloy Store is a great little place to pick up some locally made craft beer and also a chance to meet some new people and be welcomed into a growing community. It was purely by accident that I ended up here on the day; yet I came away having enjoyed the beers and the communal spirit that was going on there. There’s a decent number of taps, with a varying range of styles on as well so there’s something for most people on the taplist. The only downside? There’s barely anything of sustenance to eat, so make sure you do before coming her.

Ohloy Store : Background
I didn’t mean to end up in Takamatsu on this day – long story short, wrong train after a visit to Groundtap and a short sleep, but while in the area, I decided to head to Ohloy Store – the taproom for Ohloy Brewing. The name “Ohloy” means “Blessed Rain”, an old dialect in Kagawa prefecture and they started this project to enrich people, neighbors and society, putting beer at the core in 2022. In spite of them being a phantom brewery, this is their official taproom where you can get their beers on tap and in cans.
Ohloy Store is located near Kataharamachi station on the Kotoshira Line though you can also walk to the store from JR Takamatsu station as it’s only 15 minutes or so from that station.
Ohloy Store : Atmosphere & Interior
Ohloy Store has been designed as a communal space rather than an actual taproom – the idea is for local artists and designers to come in and talk. Yet on the day I went, it was only drinkers there and no actual designers – except for one guy but that’s a story for the Patrons. From the outside, you wouldn’t have guessed that there is a craft beer shop here; the outside has a slight modernist concrete feel to it. But inside, it’s much warmer and open.
Though I only spent time in the front of Ohloy Store, there is space at the back as well. The front of the store has space for 8 people to sit down, at some benches and bar counters, while out back there is space for another 16 people at some camp benches. The bar is non-smoking throughout and there’s no table charge either. Finally, there is some free Wifi that you can connect to.

Ohloy Store : Beer & Tap Information
Ohloy Store has eight taps available for craft beer, with most, if not all, designated for their own beers. The beers come in two sizes : half pint (240 ml) from ¥800, and pint (470 ml) from ¥1,300, with the guest beers being priced higher. Unfortunately, there’s no beer flights nor any happy hour option; however, you do get a very full glass of beer, with barely any head on the top of it.
Besides being able to drink the beers in-store, there is a fridge of beer that you can pick up some cans to takeaway though if you drink them instore, there is a fee of 10% of the cost of the beer. So a

Ohloy Store: Food & Menu Information
There’s a little bit of food on at Ohloy Store, though not really enough to sustain your inevitable drinking session here. The menu’s are posted in English and Japanese but imagine my surprise when I saw Nick Jerky on sale here – I wasn’t tempted but it was a blast from the past. In terms of vegetarian food, there’s some nuts and olives, but like the carnivores that come here, you’re going to be equally as hungry. Finally, all the prices include tax.
