Beer Room Torikago : The Bottom Line
Beer Room Torikago is a must go to place when you’re in Takamatsu – there’s no excuses not to get here. With a decent range of beers on tap, and all them tasting delicious, it’s one of the best places in the area. While there is some food on the menu, with a few snacks, I suggest eating before you come here. The whole place is non-smoking and there’s no table charge either. Finally, there are some beers that you can buy to takeaway, but they don’t include beers from White Sparrow at the time of writing this.

Beer Room Torikago : Background
Beer Room Torikago began with a simple but ambitious idea: to create a small, welcoming space where people could enjoy high-quality craft beer without pretense. The bar opened its doors in May 2021 founded by a team of beer lovers who wanted to introduce more people to the growing world of Japanese and international craft brewing. The name “Torikago,” meaning “birdcage,” was chosen to evoke a sense of intimacy and shelter; a comfortable retreat where guests could unwind at the end of the day.
Beer Room Torikago is located near Hanazono station on the Nagao Line, with it being less than a two minute walk so you can easily get here from the centre of Takamatsu.
Beer Room Torikago : Atmosphere & Interior
As you enter the bar you can’t help but notice the minimalism of Beer Room Torikago. The cozy wooden furnishings, soft lighting, and carefully chosen décor reflect the founders’ desire to blend traditional Japanese warmth with the relaxed vibe of a neighborhood pub. The big open windows allow a lot of light into the place, so even on a cold winter’s day, the inside still feels warm.
There’s space for five people at the counter, though with plenty of standing room, and a few extra tables at the front of the store, though these are more of a communual seating area. The whole place is non-smoking and there is no table charge as well.

Beer Room Torikago : Beer & Tap Information
Beer Room Torikago has five taps of craft beer, with all of them being from White Sparrow. The beers only come in one size at 300 ml from ¥800 and there is also a swing tap of Sapporo beer at ¥700 so you can bring your non-craft beer drinking friends here. I had all the beers on my visit here though unfortunately, there’s no takeaway beers yet from their in-house listing, which is a shame. Moreover, there is no happy hour nor an option for a beer flight.
However, there is a selection of beers in the fridge that can be bought to drink in store, with a corkage of fee of ¥200 per beer, regardless of the size of the bottle

Beer Room Torikago : Food & Menu Information
There’s only a small kitchen here, so there’s just some basic snacks to eat, based around Germany style dishes – a sausage based dish, a ham dish, and finally some mixed nuts. I suggest going to eat before coming here else you might end up pretty drunk very quickly. The menus are all in Japanese so you will need a Japanese speaker / reader to help you out, though the head brewer does speak some English. Finally, all the prices include tax so there’s no surprises at the end of the drinking session.
