Forest Brewing Lumberjack Pilsner : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

Forest Brewing Lumberjack Pilsner poured out a slight hazy golden honey colour with a plump white head on top, made up of large bubbles that popped away, until they left a thin layer on top. The haze wasn’t too bad and was partly down to the beer coming out of the fridge, and straight into the glass without giving it a chance to warm up.

Unlike other beers from Forest Brewing we’ve had, Forest Brewing Lumberjack Pilsner smelt pretty much to style. A light floral nose with some crisp malt sweetness eminated from the glass during drinking, with no discernible unpleasant aromas. It’s not going to excite the olfactory senses for sure.

As in the aroma, the body of the beer was unoffensive and unlikely to excite you. The hops, whatever ones used, brought a floral taste to the beer, with a light crisp bitterness that was fleeting. The malts were the same as in the nose, a light sweetness that permeated through the hops, and leaving a slightly sticky texture on the palate, just taking a little bit away from the crispness.

Forest Brewing Lumberjack Pilsner : The Bottom Line

A solid, unoffensive and uninspiring German pilsner, but that’s sometimes what you want from a beer.
