Genshichi Endoh : Background
Like so many other shops on BeerTengoku, Genshichi Endoh came up as a random find while trying to pick up some new beers, and is also our first foray into online shops in Yamagata. Genshichi Endoh is also a bricks and mortar store with a long history, since 1961, and in 2021, they transformed from a community-based convenience store into a “liquor and select shop” with a focus on domestic products, and also craft beer – luck for us!
The idea behind the store is create a space where locals can come drink and chat with one another, while also trying local products that have been selected by the owners – which also includes food and snacks. In terms of craft beer, there is a real mix of domestic breweries available, with older, established breweries such as Sankt Gallen, Hansharo, and Minoh available, as well as more modern ones, such as Amakusa Sonar Brewing, West Coast Brewing, and Uchu available.
