Bighand Bros Padparaja : Background

Bighand Bros Padparaja is a 6% festbier from Bighand Bros Beer, based in Kyoto, Japan. It’s part of a collaborative effort with them having brewed this in conjunction with Fuyo Beer Works and Craftbank Brewing, two other Kyoto based breweries. It was first released in September 2024, and can be found in cans and on tap, though no doubt by the time you’ve read this review, it’s no longer on sale.

Bighand Bros Padparaja : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

Crystal clear golden straw colour with a thick white head on top made up of small white bubbles that faded to a thin ring around the edge of the glass.

Malt forward, with some crips pilsner notes and a slight toasted biscuit quality to the body. Light hoppy notes with some floral and earthy tones being present as the beer warms up.

Crisp from start to finish as the body is malt foward – pretty much same as in the nose but the biscuity note is more pronounced. Earthy and floral hoppy notes with just a faint hint of bitterness. As the beer warms up, it becomes slightly boozy but not enough to produce any heat.

The Bottom Line

I really enjoyed Bighand Bros Padparaja – a well made beer that is worthy of drinking.
