Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Poured out a slightly hazy amber brown colour with a plump white head on top that collapsed to a few bubbles on top.
Earthy aroma at first, with floral notes, though some citrus lemon and grapefruit also came along. As it warmed up, there was a stronger malt aroma than hops, with a nutty, caramel tone to the beer.
Light bodied, you will need a lot of these to feel a buzz. The body was malt forward, with the same nutty caramel profile as in the nose. The hops were floral with a touch of earthiness and some light citrus notes. Easy drinking from start to finish with a low to medium level of bitterness as the beer warms up.
Himitsu Shi no Bitter : The Bottom Line
A by-the-books ESB. Well worthy of a drink or 10.
