Sanriku Koisuru Saison : Appearance

Slightly hazy golden orange colour with a plump white head on top that left streaks down the side of the glass. No noticeable yeast sediment present either.

Sanriku Koisuru Saison : Aroma

Soapy aroma to the beer with hints of yuzu noted but more artificial juice like than actual fruit. Slightly hopped with some pine notes to the beer – most unusual in a saison.

Sanriku Koisuru Saison : Taste

Smooth well-rounded flavour, but with a slightly pithy nature of the yuzu present. The dank notes appear in the body but cut against the phenols from the yeast, it’s almost balanced out. But the dank flavour doesn’t belong in a saison – well not for me at least.

Sanriku Koisuru Saison : The Bottom Line

Take out the Simcoe hops for this beer, and it would be a very good saison with some fruit in it.
