Shared Coast Dwellers : Background
Shared Coast Dwellers is a 7% Nordic IPA from Shared Brewery, based in Hachioji, in Tokyo. It’s part of their canned and draught lineup, with it first being released in January 2024. Shared Coast Dwellers is brewed using Cryo Citra, Idaho 7, Cryo Pop, and Simcoe hops. What makes this is a Nordic IPA? Well this beer uses some Norweigan farmhouse yeast, though at the time of writing, it’s unsure if they have used Kveik yeast in this beer, or a more familiar strain of yeaast.

Shared Coast Dwellers : Appearance
Poured out a hazy vibrant golden yelllow colour with a light frothy head of bubbles on top that collapsed to a thin layer on top with some light streaks down the side.
Shared Coast Dwellers : Aroma
Hops all the way! Lots of citrus and tropical notes going on – the familiar grapefruit, lemon, and orange aromas were combined with some mango and pineapple notes. Light and dry malt notes with barely any sweetness noticeable with no discernible yeast notes.
Shared Coast Dwellers : Taste
Medium bitterness in the body, but paired with a dry body made it seem a bit stronger than expected. The hop flavours were the same as in the nose – lots of citrus flavours present alongside the tropical notes found in the nose; so more grapefruit, lemon, and orange, alongside the mango and pineapple. Low malt sweetness found alongside this all, and finished with a hop flourish.
Shared Coast Dwellers : The Bottom Line
Shared Coast Dwellers comes across with the bone dry body of a saison with an American IPA hop flourish, but overall, it’s a decent beer and one I would drink again and again.
