Black Tide Doc Wat’s Stupendous Serum : Aroma & Taste

Black Tide Doc Wat’s Stupendous Serum, besides having a long name, has been long on my list of beers to drink. I have enjoyed a lot of the beers from Black Tide Brewing and with this being an imperial stout, I was hoping to find it before it sold out.

Black Tide Doc Wat’s Stupendous Serum poured out a pitch black colour with a thin amount of tan coloured head that left some streaky marks down the side. The aroma was a thick, rich chocolate and coffee one to begin with, that was balanced out with a light creamy note soon after. As Black Tide Doc Wat’s Stupendous Serum warmed up, something you must do with your imperial stout, there was a touch a light roasted malt aroma to boot, but not in an acrid black malt manner.

The body of Black Tide Doc Wat’s Stupendous Serum began with a smooth creaminess that gave way to the thick chocolate and coffee body that was soothing yet warming at the same time. At 9%, the alcohol was well hidden by the flavours. It finished off with a lingering chocolate and coffee creaminess in the aftertaste, and just a smidgen of heat to follow.
