41 Beer 3 Bird Coffee Stout : Aroma & Taste
Unsurprisingly, 41 Beer 3 Bird Coffee Stout poured out a pitch black colour, but was rather thin as it came out – I was expecting something a bit gloopier – is that even a word? However, the aroma more than made up for the appearance as there was a balanced coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt aroma that was present when chilled, and got stronger as 41 Beer 3 Bird Coffee Stout warmed up. There was no way that I was going to drink this beer chilled, even if it meant I had to wait a good 30 minutes for it to be at a decent temperature.
The body began with a smooth coffee and chocolate flavour though the lack of body was evident from the start, and that was a little disappointing after what the nose had brought to proceedings. In spite of that, the body did have a lingering coffee robustness and just a smidgen of bitterness from the coffee that only got stronger as 41 Beer 3 Bird Coffee Stout warmed up. The aftertaste was more of the same – a lingering coffee and chocolate flavour.
41 Beer 3 Bird Coffee Stout : The Bottom Line
41 Beer 3 Bird Coffee Stout is a good little beer that just lacked the body to support the bold flavours.
