Far Yeast Virtual Reality TDH is a 7% west coast IPA from Far Yeast Brewing Company, based in Kosuge, Yamanashi. It’s part of their Night Watch Project range of beers – a project that was setup at the end of 2019 by a group of by professionals in various fields who love craft beer, such as beer brewers, fashion, graphic, and architectural designers. As the name suggests, Far Yeast Virtual Reality TDH is triple dry hopped with Cascade, Centennial, and Idaho 7. At the time of writing, it’s unlikely we’ll see Far Yeast Virtual Reality TDH again – in this reality or another one.

Far Yeast Virtual Reality TDH : Aroma & Taste
If you haven’t read the review about Far Yeast Virtual Reality DDH, then you should go and do so, as both beers were drunk at the same time – a nice little “science” experiment about dry hopping and how flavours come out. I must say though, Far Yeast Virtual Reality TDH poured out much darker than its “weaker” sibling, which I am guessing is down to the amount of particulate that comes out from the hops. With this being triple dry hopped, the aroma was a little more punchier – but that was to be expected. That aroma though was still lemon and orange, with some grapefruit; however, there was a musty aroma – almost a wet cardboard like aroma as Far Yeast Virtual Reality TDH warmed up.
The body was not too dissimilar in flavour to Far Yeast Virtual Reality DDH, but it was more aggressive, which, again, was to be expected with this being triple dry hopped. However, the outstanding feature – perhaps not the best expression to use but most apt – was the mustiness in the body that I first noticed in the nose. It wasn’t off-putting, and didn’t make Far Yeast Virtual Reality TDH a drain pour, but it was noticeable throughout drinking. The hops brought some grapefruit, lemon, and orange through yet I could not shake that musty feeling in the beer.
Far Yeast Virtual Reality TDH : The Bottom Line
If I had to pick a beer I liked, and of course I shall, then Far Yeast Virtual Reality DDH is the better of the bunch. A shame but Far Yeast Virtual Reality TDH had too much musty flavour in the nose and body.
