Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA is a 10% triple IPA from Uchu Brewing, based in Hokuto, in Yamanashi, Japan. It’s part of their canned and draught lineup though its availability is unknown at the time of writing. Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA uses Simcoe hops but in two different forms : regular pellets and also a Cryo version of those pellets.
Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA is also triple dry hopped, so three separate additions of hops are used over three different periods of time, though how long is unknown. The beer takes its name from the usually background of celestial bodies, though this time with Fomalhaut, the brightest star in the constellation of Piscis Austrinus.

Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA : Aroma and Taste
Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA poured out hazy light yellow colour with a large frothy head on top – much better than the Uchu Sun I had previously. If you’re going to name your beer after bright objects, then make sure it’s a colour like this. The aroma was a strong pineapple and lemon one, with very little malt aroma to the nose. Perhaps a dash of sweetness but the most surprising thing about Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA was that at 10%, I couldn’t smell any alcohol heat at all. Perhaps a dash when it was warm, but to be honest, that could have been coming off of my breath.
The body brought a bitter punch from the start – and Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA was not holding back either in terms of flavour. The beer was all about the pineapple and lemon and was sweet, yet astringent, though with strong booziness when warm. In terms of sweetness, the beer was lacking and was also very dry – no chance of Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA being cloying on the palate. Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA lingered in the aftertaste with more of the aforementioned pineapple and lemon, but after knocking back almost a can of this stuff, I didn’t really care as the beer was doing its job.
Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA : The Bottom Line
Uchu Fomalhaut Triple IPA is big, bold, and packs a punch with it being deceptively easy drinking. A good effort here from Uchu.
