Ebina Uppun IPA is a 6.5% American IPA from Ebina Beer, based in Ebina, in Kanagawa, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup and can be found in both bottles and on tap in some places. It was first brewed in January 2018 as a response to the demand from the public for an IPA.
Ebina Uppun IPA Aroma and Taste
Ebina Uppun IPA poured out a dark orange brown colour with a small amount of fluffy white head on top that faded fast. The aroma though was of oxidised dank and lemon hops. There was some faint stone fruit aroma but the oxidised, cardboard quality to the smell could not be missed – especially given that it got stronger as it warmed up. There was a slight caramel malty aroma to the beer but again, the oxidised hops stole the show.
The body though was even worse – perhaps this was a bad bottle considering the good beers we’ve had on tap from Ebina Beer. A wet cardboard, oxidised muddled beer with a harsh hop offness to it. Ebina Uppun IPA was a struggle to drink to be honest and in the end, I couldn’t.
Ebina Uppun IPA The Bottom Line
Ebina Uppun IPA is either a bad beer or badly bottled.
