Sidewalk Stand Nakameguro The Bottom Line
While Sidewalk Stand Nakameguro stretches the boundaries of what is classified as a craft beer bar, it is a cosy little place that should be on your list for a quick beer while you’re going to Deguchiya or perhaps for a nice respite from the crowds along the River Meguro. Sidewalk Stand Nakameguro ticks off everything we want in a bar – no table charge, prices included in tax, a decent happy hour, free wifi, and also non-smoking. The only thing that could make the place a definite repeat visit is the lack of taps.
Sidewalk Stand Nakameguro The Full Review
Sidewalk Stand are a serious of small coffee shops / bars that are slowly making their way through Tokyo, with other branches in Inokoshira and Yutenji popping up. Small enough that the footprint of the bar is quaint and compact, but large enough that they are not just holes in the wall for you to stand and drink. This Sidewalk Stand Nakameguro branch opened in March 2015 and since then, has proven to be a popular spot to stop off at while walking along the Meguro River.
Sidewalk Stand Nakameguro has space for about 6 people downstairs, 14 people upstairs, and also allows outside drinking too, with some small wooden benches on both fronts of the shop. The whole place is non-smoking and there is also no table charge too. There is also some free wifi too, with the details printed on the menu.
There isn’t an extensive range of craft beer on at Sidewalk Stand Nakameguro, with two taps of beer on; however, there are some bottles for sale, at slightly inflated places for what are on offer. The beers come in three sizes: 1/2 US pint (235ml) for ¥600, 2/3 US pint (350ml) for ¥900, and US pint (470ml) for ¥1,000. There is also a good little happy hour offer on Weekdays from 17:00 – 19:000 where 1/2 US pint (235ml) costs ¥500 and US pint (470ml) costs ¥800. There are also some bottles on sale but we’d avoid them if you can as you can get them for cheaper for elsewhere in the area. All the prices include tax and the beers are well-served – no massive amounts of head, and some clean glasses too.
There is some food on at Sidewalk Stand Nakameguro, with some incredible looking sandwiches. Unfortunately, there aren’t any to takeaway and cook yourself – a damn shame really. The Reuben is a stand out sandwich and really well-made though a little pricey. All the prices include tax and there are a few vegetarian options as well.

The elephant-in-the-room however, is the Baird Nakameguro Taproom.
Why would you want to visit here when the solid beers from Baird are on offer here, and Baird has the frequent drinker card giving you discounts as well?
Because it’s nice to try somewhere different?
I’d say the bigger elephant in the room is why not go to Standing Bar Beer Boy in Naka-Meguro, Tokyo when it’s cheaper than Baird Beer?
Valid response, but as far as the accoutrements you describe as favorable go, Sidewalk Stand is sadly bereft.
Nonetheless, this seems to be a good place.
