Ise Kadoya Itsumono IPA Galaxy is a 6% American IPA from Ise Kadoya based in Mie, Japan. At the time of writing, it’s unknown whether Ise Kadoya Itsumono IPA Galaxy is a one off or not, but it can be found both bottles and on tap across Japan. Ise Kadoya have stated though that he Ise Kadoya Itsumono IPA series is going to continue with different single hop ideas. The Galaxy hops are sourced and imported from Australia.

Ise Kadoya Itsumono IPA Galaxy Aroma and Taste

Ise Kadoya Itsumono IPA Galaxy poured out a slightly golden orange colour with a large frothy white head on top, which lasted for what seemed like ages. There was a pungent passionfruit and citrus aroma to it, along with a slight malt sweetness too. There was also an underlying hint of fruitiness to it, though it was subtle.

At 65 IBUs, Ise Kadoya Itsumono IPA Galaxy packed a punch from the get go, but the bitterness was not lingering nor rough – instead fading fast from the palate. The passionfruit and citrus flavours were balanced nicely with the sweetness from the malts; however, it did seem a tad one dimensional after a while. Which is the main problem with using single hops for beers. It would have been nice to have had some earthy flavours or some more of the fruitiness to come through at some point.

Ise Kadoya Itsumono IPA Galaxy The Bottom Line

For a first effort into a single hops series, Ise Kadoya Itsumono IPA Galaxy is a well made effort that could have been much more. It’s going to be interesting to see how the rest of the line develops.
