BrewBeast Viiiiisi is a 6.5% hazy IPA from BrewBeast based in Hanomaki, Iwate. It’s part of their canned and draught lineup, though it is a collaboration beer brewed for the Morioka bar, Valo as part of their fifth anniversary celebrations, so the beer may have sold out when you’re reading this. BrewBeast Viiiiisi : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
BrewBeast Viiiiisi poured out a deep hazy golden orange colour with a thick white head on top, with some medium sized bubbles in it. The head faded fast after pouring, but it left some thick sticky rings as well as a few streaks down the side of the glass during drinking.
As soon as you pour the beer into a glass, the aromas immediately come emanating out of the glass. There was a mixture of some citrus notes, alongside some tropical and a touch of stone fruit too. Plenty of fruitiness going on in BrewBeast Viiiiisi though the stone fruits and tropical notes win out in the end. The stone fruit notes reminded me of apricot and peach while the tropical notes reminded of some mango and pineapple. The citrus note of lemon was a touch astringent on the palate, but only really coming through as the beer warmed up. There was a touch of sweetness from the malts, supplementing the hoppy notes of the beer but never dominating.
The body to BrewBeast Viiiiisi started off with an astringent, bitter note to it, though it was more pleasant than you think. The flavours found in the body of the beer are a juicy combination of ripe peach, apricot and tropical fruit, with passion fruit and pineapple providing a more pronounced fruitiness as the beer warms up during drinking. Beneath all of this, there is a light to medium sweetness in the beer, but, like in the nose, it’s a supporting flavour that actually helps the malts to shine some more.

BrewBeast Viiiiisi is a fruit-forward, hop-led beer that makes good use of the combination of Alora and Nectaron hops. There’s plenty going on in both the aroma and flavour, with ripe peach, apricot, mango and pineapple providing the main attraction.
