Gogoshima Iyokan IPA : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

Gogoshima Iyokan IPA poured out a dark honey orange colour with a few bubbles that could be mistaken for a head – they didn’t last long at all and ended up with a limp ending.

The aroma off the beer though was vastly different – full of zing and life to it. It began with a light citrus note of lemon and orange, before some light dusting of tropical notes came through. As the beer warmed up, some light resinous notes also permeated through, supported by a touch of malt sweetness to support all of the aromas. Though I was expecting the orange aroma to be the boldest, it was good to have a balance between the aromas.

The body began with a swift but lingering bitterness from start to finish, with the citrus flavours being the boldest during drinking. Along with the citrus flavours came a slight resinous body which was supported by a light pilsner sweetness in the body. Gogoshima Iyokan IPA finished off with the citrus notes lingering into the aftertaste.

Gogoshima Iyokan IPA : The Bottom Line

This was a surprisingly nice beer that had a good balance between the hops and the fruit.
