Beer Again Fujiyama Takibeeer : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Beer Again Fujiyama Takibeeer poured out a deep orange-brown colour with a thick sticky head on top. It’s hard to see it in the picture, but it was a very lively beer with lots of bubbles streaming up from the bottom of the glass. The head consisted of medium and large bubbles that took a while to settle down before drinking.
This is the first northwest amber lager that I’ve had and it kind of resembled a California Common with more caramel and woody notes. The hops had a clean resinous aroma during drinking, and were paired off against citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon during drinking. As the beer warmed up, some of the more malty aromas cut through the hops, with a distinct caramel nuttiness permating through.
The drinking began with a woody bitterness to Beer Again Fujiyama Takibeeer – some dank resinous notes coming along for the ride as well. With that also came along some citrus undertones, which were similar to the nose, so more grapefruit and lemon notes. It was a balanced beer, with the malts also bringing a caramel base that was pleasant and soft on the palate. It wasn’t as sweet as I was expecting it to be and with the soft body, it was gone pretty quickly.
Beer Again Fujiyama Takibeeer : The Bottom Line
A caramel, piney lager – it’s a good effort and I’d be happy to order this in a bar. Good luck in finding it though.
