Vacan Craft 02 : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

Um, let’s just ignore the colour shall we? It really does seem with Utsui Brewery, that the crapshoot of beers and what they look like continues on with Vacan Craft 02. It poured out a light orange brown colour with a plump white head on top. The head didn’t last long though it did leave some thick rings around the edge of the glass.

In terms of aroma however, it was bang on style for a hefeweizen. A big banana and wheat eminated even when Vacan Craft 02 had just been poured into a glass, in spite of looking rather unappealing. As it warmed up, a touch of rice-like nose came through, with a hint of sake being present.

Again, let’s ignore the appearance of this beer and get on with how it tastes. And guess what? It tasted great! It tasted exactly what a hefeweizen should do – banana and wheat, with a touch of spiciness also being present during drinking. Vacan Craft 02 had a medium body to it, with some malt sweetness permeating through. There were no off flavours during drinking – I was shocked believe me.
