Background
Number Nine Brewery is a brewery located in the Minatomirai area of Yokohama, in Kanagawa. Opened in October 2019, it’s a part of the Number Nine pier complex, also known as Hammerhead. The brewery is owned by a company called Huge Company Ltd, which is a restaurant business company headquartered in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, and operates 28 stores mainly in Tokyo.
Yokohama Shinko Pier, where Number Nine Brewery is located, is located almost in the center of Yokohama Port. It was built in the late 19th century to early 20th century as the first modern wharf in Yokohama Port that could load and unload people and goods without using barges. Historically valuable structures such as the Red Brick Warehouse and a 50-ton crane, which gives the area the nickname “Hammerhead” remain in the area.
