Background
Yellow Monkey Brewing is a brewpub located in Nakagawa, in the north western part of Yokohama, in Kanagawa. The bar opened on May 1st 2024, while the breweries first beers were released in late July of the same year. Nakagawa isn’t known for being a commercial or drinking area; however, the owner, Komada-san, believed that is difficult to commute to is not sustainable for the members who work at the brewery.
The founder, Komada-san, used to work for the Swiss sports brand “On.” In the process of spreading On in Japan, he didn’t just sell shoes through advertising, but instead steadily built connections with people through running events and the like. Yellow Monkey Brewing’s founding members, head brewer Kengo Saito and head salesperson Hirono Saito, share the same sentiment. They hope that Yellow Monkey Brewing’s beer and this place will bring people together and create smiles.

- Yellow Monkey Godzone Beat – a 6.5% NZ pale ale brewed with NZ Motueka, Nelson, and Riwaka hops.
- Yellow Monkey Hoppy Saison – a 5% saison first brewed in December 2024 with Nelson, Motueka, and Riwaka hops used.
- Yellow Monkey Apple Cinnamon Brown Ale – A 6% spiced beer that is brewed as a brown ale with apple juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
