Nami no Oto Belgian White : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
First of, the beer poured out a light hazy golden colour with a thin layer of white head on top, though it didn’t last long, as it faded to a couple of bubbles on top of the beer.
Nami no Oto Belgian White had the classic aroma of a witbier – lots of clove, orange, and interestingly, a touch of sake nose to the beer. As it warmed up, there was a light nose of malt sweetness, just a touch of light pilsner aroma though it was intermingled with a herbal hoppy aroma.
Finally, the beer tasted like your regular Belgian wit – not a bad thing at all. The initially flavours of spice and orange coming through, alongside a light malt sweetness all being balanced with each other. The body was lighter than expected, with some lingering yeast phenols on the palate. As Nami no Oto Belgian White warmed up, some of the sake like quality came though, playing off nicely against traditions.
Nami no Oto Belgian White : The Bottom Line
A solid take on a classic style – perfect for the warmer days.
