Streetlight Chocolate Stout : Background
Streetlight Chocolate Stout is a 6.5% foreign stout from Streetlight Brewing based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. It’s part of their collaborative lineup, and is available in both cans and on draught. As the name suggests, Streetlight Chocolate Stout does contain chocolate with it being sourced from SOIL CHOCOLATE, a chocolate shop in Sapporo that also continues to explore the best “Bean to Bar” available. Streetlight Brewing used cacao nibs used in the product, from Madagascar, Tanzania, and Trinidad and Tobago, are added to a stout with lactose to balance the sweetness.

Streetlight Chocolate Stout : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
First things first, I already had a version of this at the Streetlight Brewing taproom in the Soen area of Sapporo. It must have been good there as I bought a couple of cans of the stuff to bring home, and savour in some warmer conditions.
The beer poured out a dark brown, verging on black, colour with a thin amount of off-white tan head. The head consisted of medium to large bubbles that popped away, leaving a thick slick on top of the beer.
Talk about chocolate! This beer had lashings of it on the nose from start to finish. It was a well-round milk chocolate like aroma to the beer, with some notes of light coffee, followed up with a touch of coffee too. There was a slight creaminess too present as Streetlight Chocolate Stout warmed up, but not enough to hide the roasted black malts and nuttiness present.
The body was silky smooth, with a deliciously thick creaminess to the palate, and combined with the chocolate flavour, made this a delight to dirnk. The body was lighter than expected for a stout, but helped to accentuate the chocolate flavours more, with just a hint of coffee and roasted black malts lying in wait. The flavours
