Streetlight Hi Lucifier : Background

Streetlight Hi Lucifier is a 9.5% strong golden ale from Streetlight Brewing, based in the Soen area of Sapporo, in Hokkaido. The beer is part of their limited lineup and is available in both cans and on draught. Streetlight Hi Lucifier is brewed using only Citra hops during the brewing process and takes its name from Lucifer, meaning “bringer of light,” and marks the start of Streetlight’s new label.

Streetlight Hi Lucifier : Appearance

Slight chill haze to the beer, though a dark golden colour permeates through the haze, with the being adorned by a thin amount of light white froth that faded fast to a few bubbles.

Streetlight Hi Lucifier : Aroma

Strong phenolic nose to the beer from the yeast, but balanced against a backdrop of pilsner malt sweetness and is overall well balanced. Citra hops aren’t really noted in the beer – perhaps they were not used in a great amount. As the beer warms up, strong alcohol punch present though it isn’t enough to detract from the yeast aromas.

Streetlight Hi Lucifier : Taste

Full bodied with the yeast flavours being phenolic fruity ones, and a strong malt backdrop as in the nose. The sweetness helps to balance out the alcohol heat again. There’s a touch of citrus notes as the beer warms up, though it’s an underlying flavour to the beer.

Streetlight Hi Lucifier : The Bottom Line

Streetlight Hi Lucifier is a decent beer that I would enjoy again on cool autumn evening.
