Sake no Tanaka is a small bottle shop located in Sapporo, Hokkaido. It’s a few minutes walk from Kitanijuyojo Station on the Sapporo Namboku Line, which is pretty convenient as you’ll end up buying a lot of craft beer here to take back with you. The store is located on the second floor of the building, but there seems to be a thing for books and beer in Sapporo – not that I am complaining – as you have to walk through a bookstore to access Sake no Tanaka.
Sake no Tanaka had a wide variety of domestic and import beers with prices being rather reasonable and also including tax. However, the main thing about Sake no Tanaka is that it is cash only – no electronic money or credit / debit cards are accepted here so be warned. You may have to do what I did and choose between a couple of beers as noone told you and you didn’t enough money – beer or food, an easy choice to make. In total, there were about 6 fridges of beers, with each fridge having about 10 shelves inside of them – plenty of variety.
Sake no Tanaka also has an online store but to be honest, it looks like it hasn’t been updated from the 1990s – it’s so bad that for shopping, it can only be used with Internet Explorer! A shame but it does list the beers in stock, so if you’re looking for something specific, then go on to the site and check out before going.
