Matsumoto Reincarnated Lush IPA : Aroma & Taste
I must admit, I was rather surprised when I saw this bottle of Matsumoto Reincarnated Lush IPA on the shelf – could it be that Matsumoto Brewery are changing with the times and bringing out new beers? I hope so as I enjoyed my time at the bar a few years back but the beers were rather basic in terms of styles.
Matsumoto Reincarnated Lush IPA poured out a deep golden orange colour with a medium amount of sticky white head on top. The head left lots of streaks down the side of the glass. The aroma was a combination of citrus and tropical fruits – the initial orange and pineapple was present before moving onto a lemon and grapefruit aroma when the beer had warmed up. This, combined with a slight malt sweetness, really stuck around and was pretty easy going on the nose – nothing grassy or acrid was noted from the beer.
The body was much fully than I had expected, with it allowing the bitterness to linger far longer on the palate than I had thought. The citrus and tropical flavours of grapefruit, lemon, orange, and pineapple were around for much longer than I thought they were going to be – pretty much the case with this beer, in that everything just lasted longer than I envisaged. The malts brought a medium level of sweetness to Matsumoto Reincarnated Lush IPA but they were not cloying or too strong. It finished off with a flourish of fruitiness on the palate with the same fruity flavours noted in the body.
Matsumoto Reincarnated Lush IPA : The Bottom Line
I quite enjoyed Matsumoto Reincarnated Lush IPA and would happily pick up another bottle
