DD4D Air Jordal 2 is an 8% hazy double IPA from DD4D Brewing Company, based in Ehime, in Shikoku, Japan. It’s part of their draft and bottled lineup and is the second in the “Air Jordal” range. It’s name comes from the strain of kveik yeast used, in this case it being Jordal, and in terms of hopping, uses Citra, Idaho 7, and Strata.

DD4D Air Jordal 2 Aroma and Taste

DD4D Air Jordal 2 definitely lived up to its label of being a hazy beer, with a very cloudy orange-yellow body, and a thin amount of white head on top that faded fast to leave a few bubbles around the outside of the glass. DD4D Air Jordal 2 had a pungent fruity aroma, with pineapple, mango, lemon, grapefruit, and orange all coming off the beer throughout drinking. There was a slight oatiness to the aroma, with some hints of lactose too going on, but in terms of actual malt, there was a weak pilsner sweetness to it all.

With all the fruitiness going on, I really did not notice any bitterness to DD4D Air Jordal 2 at all throughout drinking. From start to finish, it was all about the fruits – the same one tropical ones noted in the nose were found in the body, with plenty of it going on. The pineapple and mango flavours were the boldest, with the citrus ones waiting to takeover when DD4D Air Jordal 2 warmed up a bit. There wasn’t any noticeable astringency or off-flavours to the beer. Once the beer had warmed up though, there was a tad more alcohol heat going on, but it was restrained and not a burning sensation. DD4D Air Jordal 2 finished off with those tropical flavours lingering on.

DD4D Air Jordal 2 The Bottom Line

DD4D Air Jordal 2 is a really good step up from the DD4D Air Jordal. More please.
