West Coast Starwatcher is a 6.5% West Coast IPA from West Coast Brewing, based in Shizuoka, in Shizuoka, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup and can be found in cans and on tap. West Coast Starwatcher is brewed using Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops.
West Coast Starwatcher Aroma and Taste
West Coast Starwatcher poured out a clear golden straw colour with a plump white head on top that faded to a few bubbles around the outside of the glass. West Coast Starwatcher reeked of citrus and dank resinous pine notes – a big grapefruit, lemon, and orange nose came through, followed by a slight pilsner aroma but it’s all about the hops with West Coast Starwatcher.
The initial bitterness faded quickly from West Coast Starwatcher, with some lingering citrus flavours. Once again, the citrus notes were grapefruit, lemon, and orange but they tasted smooth with the only downside to them being that they faded quite quickly when chilled. When warmed up, the flavours and bitterness lingered longer so make sure you do the same with your can or pint of West Coast Starwatcher. The beer finished off dry with the same citrus notes in the aftertaste but West Coast Starwatcher was an easy drinking beer – and that’s dangerous.
West Coast Starwatcher The Bottom Line
An easy-drinking West Coast IPA is a dangerous drink to have, so be careful with West Coast Starwatcher.
