Y Market Hop Cantabile by Y Market Brewing is a 4.5% American session IPA made with Loral, Cascade, Mosaic, HBC 472 and Simcoe hops. A “cantabile” (canta-bee-lay) is a “smooth singing style”, apparently. Makes sense seeing as this is a low-alcohol session beer.
Y Market Hop Cantabile by Y Market Brewing Aroma and Taste
Y Market Hop Cantabile pours out a clear gold colour, with a brief white head that soon vacates the premises. It’s kinda watery-looking. The aroma is citrusy, very lemony indeed, and also piney and dank. Lotta hops in here.
The flavour follows the aroma, and I don’t know how it got this lemony without actually dunking one in there. There’s a bit of pine resin too, and a bitter aftertaste. It’s all hops, so as you would expect the malt takes so much of a back seat on this beer that it’s running behind the car like T-1000 in Terminator 2.
Y Market Hop Cantabile by Y Market Brewing: The Bottom Line
Y Market Hop Cantabile was alright. A bit thin on the ground. Good for summer nights though.
