Woodmill Golden Ale is a 5% golden ale from Woodmill Brewery Kyoto, based in Kyoto, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup and can be found in both bottles and on tap, though the latter is hard to come by. And that’s all we could find out about it.
Woodmill Golden Ale Aroma and Taste
Woodmill Golden Ale poured out a dark hazy golden brown colour with a finger or two of fluffy white head on top, that stuck to the side of the glass as the beer went down. There was a biscuity like aroma with some hints of butteriness to it – something that shouldn’t be in a golden ale. Woodmill Golden Ale had a light dusting of lemon to it that was fleeting.
The body followed the nose – hints of butteriness and a smattering of biscuit and lemon, though as Woodmill Golden Ale got warmer, that buttery body just got stronger and stronger. It really became a problem during drinking as it detracted away from the biscuit and lemon. That same lingering butteriness carried on through into the aftertaste.
Woodmill Golden Ale The Bottom Line
Woodmill Golden Ale has the basis for a good golden ale, but the production needs to be tightened up.
