Liquor Shop Night Owl, we’re going to call it Night Owl, in Ebisu offers up something that simply isn’t been doing in Japan that well – if at all! Growlers! For those who don’t know what growler is, it’s a glass, ceramic, or stainless steel jug used to transport draft beer. They’re pretty common in countries well people have to drive to pubs, or they fancy drinking some nice craft beer at home. However, due to Japan’s extensive transportation network, and online sales, growlers are a rarity in the community.
Night Owl does offer a small drinking-in experience, but at a price. All of the beers are offered up in 100ml portions, and any size container can be filled – it’s up to you though to ensure it’s clean. If you do want to drink in, then each “sample” costs ¥500 – pretty pricey but the idea is to buy to take away instead. There is also a selection of absinthe too, if you really want to punish your brain and body – we’ll leave that to you. The Facebook page also lists the taps and prices for the day as well.
