Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA Revolution is a 7.5% American IPA from Ise Kadoya, based in Mie, Japan. It’s part of their limited edition range and was first released in November 2017. Ise Kadoya took their Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA and then ramped up the hops somewhat on the whim of the president of the brewery, with Chinook, SImcoe, Amarillo, Citra, and Cascade hops being used in it. It’s unknown whether Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA Revolution is a one-off or will be part of a new range of beers from the brewery.

Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA Revolution Aroma and Taste

Ise Kadoya recommend trying Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA Revolution along with the Lush Hop IPA to see if you can figure out the difference between the two – but straight away the colour was much darker in Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA Revolution. The head was fluffy and white and lasted for ages, clinging onto the side of the glass right until the end of drinking. The aroma was citrusy: lemon, grapefruit, and orange, along with a piney soapiness to it that only grew stronger as the beer got warmer.

The soapiness was present in the body too but the citrus flavours were surprisingly clean and could easily be ticked off one-by-one. There was a smidgen of malt flavour – nothing more than a fleeting amount of caramel going on – but that soapiness just couldn’t be ignored at all. Of course Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA Revolution was bitter – and it was a little on the astringent side but nothing overpowering. Yet still the soapiness prevails through. Right until the end of drinking.

Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA Revolution The Bottom Line

Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA Revolution isn’t so much of a revolution – more of making something a bit stronger. It’s alright but I preferred the Lush Hop IPA over this.
